Originating from a royal secret recipe 180 years ago, blossoms on modern tables while embracing its ancient charm.

About us

The word Bodai is derived from the Sanskrit term, and signifies enlightenment and wisdom. It embodies a transcendent state of awareness, that can be achieved by shedding worldly distractions to obtain the wise state of Nirvana. In Buddhism, Bodai represents not only the wisdom of enlightenment, but also the path leading to it. It is not just a word; it is a symbol of spiritual pursuit and aspiration. Additionally, Bodai refers to the sacred fig tree, which holds profound symbolic significance in Buddhist culture. Bodai is not just a core term in Buddhism; it is the embodiment of one's quest for truth, wisdom, and higher enlightenment.

Bodai Vegetarian Cuisine was founded by Master Guo Wenjun, based on the ancestral secrets of "Qing Palace Cuisine." Vegetarian culture boasts a rich history and holds a significant place in royal cuisine. Through the evolution of multiple dynasties, vegetarian influences and dietary philosophies have gradually matured resulting in the culmination of the influential imperial vegetarian cuisine school of the late Qing Dynasty. Our restaurant has also incorporated the research findings on vegetarian delicacies from Li Shizhen's "Compendium of Materia Medica," which combines modern plant-based cooking techniques and a selection of pristine and rare ingredients from around the world to present customers with unique vegetarian flavors.

Bodai Vegetarian Restaurant Style

The Bodai Restaurant is uniquely presented in the style of a traditional quadrangle ancient architectural complex and is crafted with passion by Master Guo Wenjun.  Adhering to the natural laws of harmony between heaven, earth, and humanity, its spatial layout weaves reality with illusion, as light and dark interplay. Additionally, the courtyard, paved with blue bricks, creates a comfortable and elegant environment that remains pleasant throughout the four seasons.

The Bodai Restaurant stands out for its pioneering introduction of negative ion mist spray technology from NaiZi Science, which permeates the entire space. The majestic ancient ginkgo trees stand proud between avenues and bamboo groves, exuding serenity and beauty. The clever use of elements such as tiles, bricks, and wood transports one back to ancient times, as if traversing through the ages. This relaxed and lively atmosphere allows one to momentarily forget the hustle and bustle of the city, offering a respite for the mind and body.
